Sierra adventure, part 3: Sierraville

It was almost 8:00 by the time Katy and I got to the hot springs, checked in and got our key, and made it to Los Dos Hermanos (aka Sierraville's Only Restaurant). We ate and went to bed without checking out the springs or anything else.

The next day we admired the view from the room...

...stopped at the country store (aka Sierraville's Only Store) for snacks...

...and set out to see what we could see. Photos aren't allowed at the springs, but we didn't end up there anyway -- Katy was more interested in hiking, and on a hot day like Saturday I saw no need to get into hot water either.

The hike took us up the long driveway from the springs to the road, then along the road for a while. Even there, the view was nice:

Shortly after getting to the trees we turned right, where we were greeted by a friendly local that I will not show due to some peoples' preference to not see slithery beings.

The views got prettier as we went.

Some of the scenery even looked back at us:

Most of it, though, just stretched out in front of us, being gorgeous:

This raises the question of why I am not up there a lot more often. Another reason to go up more often is to see this wonderful friend:

She even lets Dev use her hat as a perch so he can have a real ostrich-eye view of the world:

Not to mention putting up with my goofiness:

All in all, an excellent day.
