Shetlands Trip: Bobby's Bus Shelter

Twenty-plus years ago, the bus shelter at Baltasound was torn down due to safety concerns. A six-year-old school child, Bobby, wrote to the paper to say he and other kids needed a shelter there, please, for waiting for the bus. The new shelter was duly built.

And then a person or people -- nobody knows who -- began to furnish it.

Since 2002, it's had an annual theme. The year that Bobby moved to Mozambique, it had an Africa theme. In 2014, it was made into a tribute to Nelson Mandela.

This year the theme was apparently Flowers.

The hamsters were not in residence during our visit.
