A quick trip east (April 7-11)
Last month Orhan and I took a weekend to see my mother (Claire) and grandparents (Ruth & Burt) in Massachusetts; we ended up also seeing my brother and his family (Zeke, Stacy, Persy, and Ben).
Step 1: Getting there. We left on Friday after Orhan finished his farming class and arrived at the wrong hotel at 1:00 in the morning Boston time.
A shuttle took us from this hotel, to which the taxi driver had confidently delivered us, to a better one -- better not in overall hotel quality, but simply because it had a room with our name on it.
In the morning we took the train to Rockport.
The view from our room at the inn around the corner from Ruth & Burt's house:
Dinner with them and with Claire (of whom I did not get a picture this time):
Some New England hotel kitsch/wisdom:
While driving Claire to Arlington we (re)discovered another more characteristic New England signs -- this set neither charming nor wise -- that is worth a post of its own.
Back in Rockport, we spent more time with Ruth and Burt and with the ocean.
On Monday we took the train back to Boston where we spent a night and part of Tuesday before flying home.
Dev enjoyed the T...
..the Charles...
...the indoor flora...
And the views about town, whether on land or on sea (via water taxi):
